The shift from holiday busyness and commitments to a New Year is an opportunity to make changes put off when there were too many distractions and obligations. Now is the time for you…and me. I’ve not been a fan of “New Year’s Resolutions” thinking, “why wait for a new year to makes changes?” But here I am, and yes, this year I made a list. I feel excited and renewed with a fresh start. The New Year is a good time to evaluate behaviors that work well and those that don’t.
Meal planning is essential to successful healthy eating and budgeting, especially when quality food and nutrition is a priority. Let’s be honest, cooking REAL food from scratch takes longer than a frozen or processed meal. I began following an organization, Eat Local Grown, and completely agree with the statement: “Maybe we should stop asking why real food is so expensive and start asking why processed food is so cheap.” A guaranteed solution to saving money, time and eating well is to start with a plan. Creating a plan includes budgeting our time to allow for shopping and preparing meals.
